Washed out colors on random picutres in Illustrator

I import photo's that come in fine, then I save the Illustrator file and also save it as a pdf. When I open the illustrator file again some of the picutres are getting washed out. 

my example. I open the file, and the faucet and the counter top are washed out. I placed a new facuet and the correct counter top back in and they are the correct colors.
