Weird lines following pen tool in Illustrator?

Every time I go to use the pen tool, these lines show up following the pen marks. I've tried getting rid of the guides but that doesn't seem to help. I searched online but I can't seem to find a record of this problem. This only started happening after I updated to Illustrator CC 2018. Here is a picture of what it's doing.
