Question

What is the best way to export vector for GIS mapping?

It looks like I can export as a svg, and the GIS department would then export as a png. Is there a better way to get the clean lines of a vector file, imported into ArcMap?

Maybe you can export from illustrator as an AutoCAD file .DWG  ?

    and in Arcmap

I am working in Illustrator, opening up a 20 x 20 svg file, copy the vector into the svg file then exporting as a svg. ArcMap can upload, but it has been hard getting the clarity of a vector.

I don't understand all the copying and pasting here.

Also: why do you first export an SVG which will then be converted to PNG by another department?

    Can you post screenshots?

The Lounge Forum is not for technical help, please provide the name of the program you are using so your message may be moved to the correct program forum... A program would be Photoshop or Illustrator or InDesign or ???
