When exporting to DXF why does illustrator create PNGs?

When I export illustrator files to dxf, the program creates a bunch of png files of artwork as well. Why is it doing this? How do I get it to stop doing this?

This typically happens if you apply some formatting or line style that is not natively supported in DXF, but with no real information at hand nobody can tell you whether this is expected behavior or AI just having a bad day. You have to provide much more info such as what kind of artwork you are dealing with, what stylings it has, what export settings you use and so on.

Are their raster images in your illustration (hidden, template, or otherwise?)?

When you export assets from a file using the File > Export > Exports for
Screens option, Illustrator runs the export process in the background. You
can continue with your work even when the exporting is in progress. If the
file is small, you might not even get to know about the background export
process, but for large files, it will help you save a lot of time and
improves productivity.

What does this have to do with the user's question?
