Question

When I use a gradient mesh, expand is greyed out in the new version of Illustrator. Any idea why that is? Or is there a work around? This wasn't an issue before...

I create a simple object and distort it with any mesh, then want to expand the image to control it and keep it a vector, but expand and expand appearance is greyed out.  Never been a problem before with previous versions, but now it is.  Any idea why that is? Or is there a work around?

Objects distorted with a Mesh can be expanded with Object > Envelope Distort > Expand.

Thanks for the response!  I tried that, but it is greyed out as well...

Ok thanks for that.  But then why now does the envelope mesh anchors not move with the object.  Like this:

I want the shape to be where the anchor is pulled out, but it has done this insead.

The Gradient mesh will stay with it, but then you cannot expand it.   Don't believe it was like this in the previous versions.  Any help with that?

    Can you share that file?

Works fine for me, but I don't know how you created and what you did to the object that you are showing.
