Why can't I open DWG files in Adobe Illustrator CS6?

Why can't I open DWG files in Adobe Illustrator CS6?  I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Mountain Lion & got a new Mac Pro.  Then I signed up for the Creative Cloud.  Now I cannot open any DWG files in Illustrator.  Why?

What version are the files?

Does Illustrator display a warning?

I had them save down to AutoCAD 2000 & also save as the Current versions of 2010 & 2013.  No dice.

Yes, it gives me a warning. See attached screenshot:

Illustrator should be able to open the 2000 format, but not the 2010 and 2013

Can you try 2004/2005/2006 as well?

THis looks like a problem with the import filter as well. Did you experience any trouble during installation?

No, not really.  I do get a few error messages when I start up now, but I had transferred everything from my old computer, so figured it was a glitch. The error message was a dialogue box like the others, only it said this:

"Insecure start-up item disabled. Library/Startup Items/.DS_Store/ has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings."

"Insecure start-up item disabled. Library/Startup Items/ES1000Service/ has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings."

"Insecure start-up item disabled. Library/Startup Items/Parallels/ has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings."

I know for sure we have not used Parallels in the past 2 years that I have been here.

As for the other two star-tup items, I am not entirely sure what thier purpose is.

Would any of these have anything to do with it?

If you used migration to move the application files to the new computer, the only way to fix this is to uninstall the CS Suite, run the Cleaner tool and reinstall the Suite from the original disks. Adobe does not do migration well.

Larry – yes, we did use migration to transfer.  We actually upgraded to the subscription of Adobe Creative Cloud, thus do not have any discs to "re-install."  What would be your suggestion here? Just re-download the previous CS package we have & then download the upgrades again?

Here's the link for the Cleaner tool

Try the uninstall, use the above and the reinstall with a new download and do the updates. It's the best way to make sure all the associated files are in the right place and functioning properly.

Thanks, Larry.  I did have to uninstall all of the old, outdated software & the current CS6 Software. I then restarted & logged back into http://creative.cloud.com & re-downloaded all the upgrades again.

This worked perfectly.  I can now open DWG files again   Did not need to use the cleaner tool either.

Thanks for your input, it was greatly appreciated!
