Why does columns and cells not copy correctly in illustrator on Mac but it does on PC?

When I copy a part of an excel sheet (image1) to Adobe illustrator, the cells and columns show up fine on a PC (image2). When I do the same on a mac the cells and columns don't show up only the wording (image3). What can I do to get the columns and cells to show up on a mac when I copy it in Adobe illustrator?
