Why does the path look like that after "minus front"?

Hi all, Im sure im missing simple stuff, yet need help:

sometimes when Im using minus front command, instead of just punching a whole (for example). the "front" disapears, yet, the path of the back object remains closed as the softwares fills out so the object will remain outlined. can u please direct me to what im doing wrong?

I give example of before and after with image.

Strokes need to be expanded/ converted to outlines if you want them to be cut as well. Has never been any different.

if you can't Expect the result of the pathfinder commands, select the objects and use THE SAHPE BUILDER TOOL
