When I try to duplicate my Artboard in AI, this happens to my elements. What do I need to do to prevent this from happening? I am VERY new to this! I need VERY SIMPLE explinations!

If the objects or the layers they are on are locked they won't be duplicated or move with the artboards. I consider this a bug.
How do I get around this? I don't know what to do. I am very new to this. Thanks!
Unlock all layers. If it still happens then also Unlock all objects.
To unlock layers click the padlock icon next to a layer in the Layers panel. To unlock all object go to Object > Unlock All.
