Why is my clipping mask transparent?

How do I fix my clipping mask?

Every time I make a clipping mask, using an image, the final mask is transparent and does not appear on my artboard. I have all of my layers in the correct order with my shape/path being above my image, however, I am not able to see my finished clipping mask. I have tried double-clicking my selected layers and using "Make Clipping Mask" and I have tried "Object > Clipping Mask > Make" but nothing works.

Is there something I am missing?

You mean that the mask is losing its fill after being applied?

Could we perhaps see a screenshot?

Can you show something? Preferably with the image/path selected and the layers panel expanded.
