Why is this object displaying as translucent when set at 100% opacity?

Hi...I'm very confused on this one. I have an object that, as you can see in the properties window, is set to 100% opacity. Yet, when it is inside the artboard, it displays as translucent and a lighter color. When I drag the object outside the artboard, it displays in the color that I want. Any ideas on how to make this object display at 100% opacity with the fuller red color? Thanks

And in addition, the color I want is the Fill color shown on the right in the screenshot...very red. Why does it show as orange on the artboard and a lighter duller color of red when off the artboard. So strange.

I'm on a Mac with Illustrator 28.0.

FYI...the edit function is not working for editing my posts...uh, it actually never has.

The screen shots might be confusing above. The edge of the artboard is far left with the vertical black line. In the first screenshot, the screen shot is atop the artboard on far left making the peachy color. In the middle, the object is atop green mountains of the base image outside the artboard, making the orangy-brown color.

In the second screenshot, I have moved the entire object off the artboard, which is still shown in light green on far left. The portion of the object that overlaps the green base image shows orangy-brown, and the portion that is overlying no other layers, on right, shows red, but not even the correct red that I'm looking for.

It is very strange because when I just draw a rectangle next to the object, it instantly shows in the fill color that I want. So, it is a problem with the original object. Why wouldn't show in the color that it is supposed to show in?

Please upload the file.

Or at least select one of those translucent objects and show a screenshot of the Appearance panel. The real one from Window > Appearance.

No, they aren't. They just contain this Appeaeance stub in the properties panel, not the real one.

Gotcha. I'll have to wait and see if this happens again, because I deleted the problem object and redrew it, and it looks fine now.

But...I will look at the actual Window>Appearance window next time and see if there are any weird settings showing there. Thanks, T

I couldn't figure out this issue, so I just redrew the object and it looks correct. So strange how one particular object could look different than another with the exact same settings.
