Question

Why two Illustrator installed? Illustrator freezing every 5 min. How to clear Illustrator cache

There are two things that I need to ask besides Adobe Illustrator.

1. Why do I need two versions when I only want one version, like Illustrator version 27 and not Illustrator version 26? As well as Photoshop version 24 and not having version 23 in my system take up too much space in the application.

2 . I was working on a project for Adobe Illustrator, and suddenly, it just froze every 5 min. I don't know how to clear the cache, or is there a way to run it smoothly again?

Hi @Just_tony,

I understand your frustration with having multiple versions of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop installed on your system, taking up space in your applications. It can be overwhelming to manage multiple versions when you only need one specific version for your work. You may check the "remove older version" option from Creative Cloud to prevent this in the future.

As for the freezing issue you're experiencing with Adobe Illustrator, I can imagine how disruptive that can be to your workflow. Freezing every 5 minutes can be frustrating and hinder your progress on your project.

Steps to clear the Illustrator cache are here:

Windows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfO7Ixi28oM

mac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfOCy-uehps

Please note that clearing the cache will reset any custom preferences or settings you may have made in Adobe Illustrator, so you may need to reconfigure them after clearing the cache.

I hope this helps in resolving the freezing issue with Adobe Illustrator. Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Anshul

As for question 2: Please tell us your hardware specifications.Particularly the amount of RAM

And: Since you seem to have issues with disk space: just hoe much is left on your disk?

1. you do not.  when updating to a new (major) version, you are given the option to uninstall the previous version. failing that you can still use the cc desktop app to uninstall any and all unwanted versions, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

for question2, i'll move your post to the ai forum. (but if you get no answer in one or two days, reset your preferences)
