Hello Community,
Adobe Illustrator for Windows shows that the shortcut for EM Dash (—) is Alt + Shift + - however when this combo is used the result is nothing. EN Dash (–) is shown as Alt + - and it function perfectly fine. I noticed that in Adobe InDesign, EM Dash keyboard shortcut combo is the same (Alt + Shift + -) and it works there, just not Illustrator.
Interestingly, only in Illustrator, the hyphen key between 0 and = keys doesnt work in the EM Dash combo above however if you substitute the NUMPAD minus sign for that key (Alt + Shift + Numpad Minus) the EM Dash comno will work. It shouldnt behave like that though. is there a way to fix it to work with the hypen key?
(i'd like to not always use ALT + 0150 and ALT + 0151 all the time)

Hello @Nicholas Tassone,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing the details. I tried replicating this behavior, and it was the same. The hyphen/dash key between the 0 and the + keys will not work, but the dash key on the number pad does work when using it in Illustrator.
While I check this with the team, would you mind trying to change the keyboard shortcut for this (https://adobe.ly/4bEPpU9) as a workaround to check if it helps?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Anubhav
