Wonky Circles and Slicing Circles

Hello,

Quick note before my three questions that I am a novice at the old Illustrator so please go easy on me.

I'm trying to create a personalised bike cover for a large penny farthing wheel, and have just discovered that a segment of the circle will have to be cut out for the cover to have a slight cone shape to it. I will have to subtract this segment and push the design to start before and after this segment, how do I do so?

Additionally, I believe that the three circular logos that I have been supplied with are not perfectly circular circles! I am led to believe this as when I create a new eclipse with the same size as the circular logo (1525mm), the new eclipse is slightly larger than the circular logo. This would not be such a problem if the new eclipse was equally as large across all edges, but it is not. How do I ensure that my logos are perfectly circular?

And my final query: how do I distribute logos across the wheel size so that when the wheels spin it the design doesn't look lopsided?

Any responses would be massively appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

So you added the black to show where it isn't a perfect circle? If the black wasn't part of the original design they supplied, I would suggest sampling the yellow and using it to fill the circle you made.

I would think the signature that goes perpendicular to the spoke would work better than the other one. Did you mean the signature is supposed to be repeated around the center? If that's the case, then rotate it using the rotate tool around to the next section by setting the pivot point of the signature to the center of the lemon. You might first make the signature a little smaller so that it stays within two sections, then rotate it 90 degrees for it to repeat in each section.

And these screenshots show which part of your question?

    Hi Monika,

I'm trying to make all of the contents of the logo fit into the circle minus the segment, so that the logo continues around a cone when printed out. If I were to extract a segment of the logo and then print, the cone would have a jump between two points and not show a smooth pattern.

Yeah, I'm trying to understand all of the parameters of your issue. If I understand correctly, you're wanting to put the 3 logos on something like an areojacket. Are the 3 logos to be distributed around the wheel, or are they 3 versions of the same logo but they are all wonky? If you are distributing the logos around it, I would think that making sure they are the same size and the same distance from the center would accomplish that.
