Can we open the same illustrator file and edit it together at the same time?

No. AI has no specific provision for synchronous work.

Hello @sanjaykumarr64810325@Linda25464219xnzu@Bjorn Syse7653709, @Test Screen Name,

Thanks for reaching out. As indicated by Mylenium, Illustrator currently does not have this functionality. Would you mind upvoting this UserVoice (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/33149923-real-time-file-collaborative-editing-with-multipl) and adding your comments there? Doing this will help us prioritize this feature request, and you will keep getting all the related updates.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,

Anubhav

This conversation is very comical.

"I do not think that is possible in any application"

"There can be no such feature. Such stuff requires a whole different approach to writing the software from the ground up and it requires specific support in the operating system. This is much bigger than you think, so no, it's extremely unlikely that anyone will ever develop such an app. Not Adobe, not any competitor

You speak as if you've never heard about Google Docs or Google Drawings, or the fact that Adobe themselves have had collaborative workflow for their Premiere and After Effects apps for a while.

Me personally I could really use that feature and I assume it will be implemented anytime soon by anyone wanting to stay in the competition.

Maybe Adobe should ask Microsoft how they were able to achieve platform collaboration.  Ask Bill Gates how to do it.

Is there any third party tools that allow this capability?

Is Adobe looking into introducing some feature in the future that enables synchronous collaboration?

Any such app, if it existed, would almost certainly be server based so neither person has an actual copy of the document.

I do not think that is possible in any application.  You can share files via your libraries. But working on something together at the same time makes no sense.

I picture a tug of war with the cursor instead of a rope.  The idea seems interesting.  But let's say your coworker or team member is making different changes to something and you are changing other things but trying to leave parts the same.  Ideally that does not seem very good.

Now if a person is in different city or country... one could use Adobe Connect or Skype and do a screen share.  This way you can talk to each other while one person is making the changes.  If you are in the same office... the scoot your chairs next to each other for an hour or so.
