Workspace gone. No tool menu.

Tired of all the issues and errors in Illustrator. After every update there's always something happening. This is only view I get now. When I go to Workspace and choose ANY of the spaces there nothing happens. Even the floating tool menu palette is gone? No, it's not magically re-appearing with Shift or F or anything. Where is everything?!!

No. I just accepted the update. Nothing more or less. Next time I won't. Too many issues with that appliacation. It's hopeless. I've tried numerous times to re establish some sort of workspace in the workspace menu but none of the options generates any UI elements. It's just an empty workspace. The only way to get something going is to step by step add palettes via the Window menu, but I can't save anything as workspace so next time I close Illustrator and open it everything is gone again and it looks like it did when I first opened it after last update. By reading some old posts I see that this is a an old familiar problem with Illustrator but there's no cure obviously.
