Zig zag line appears around edge when I create shape with gradient and opacity

When I create a shape using the pen tool, and then fill with a gradient that has some opacity on some or all of the parts of the grad, a zig zag line appears around the edge which I can't get rid of. I went to'Apperence' and switched off the stroke, but this still didn't rectify the problem.

Can anyone please help solve this issue?

It sounds like a GPU preview problem.

Try Cmd or Ctrl E to switch between GPU/CPU preview.

@Adam Zubin : It looks like your placed phone image is lower resolution than needed, since the rest of the screen image is better rendered. Check the resolution of that asset.

Thanks Ton, I tried Cmd E and that's now got rid of the zig zag line.

Many thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Good to hear that helped. It is just a preview problem and will not affect print or export. I often switch with Cmd E if I don't trust the preview.

What seems to be the issue here with the edges on the phone here? Any idea why?

Illustrator is sometimes not very good at rendering pixel images.

What file format is it?

What did you do there? Generate it yourself, placed from Photoshop? What is the resolution?
