Highlighting a layer will always select all the objects

When I want to draw on a layer and select it for that purpose, Illustrator always selects all the objects on that layer. When zoomed in and no empty place on the artboard, this might get irritating.

Maybe there could be a deselect option in the task bar? The deselect all keyboard shortcut is not obvious (but thankfully works)

    Hi Harishka,

I was referring to selecting a layer (in a file with multiple layers) in order to draw something on that layer. When I do that, and click on a layer, Illustrator will always select all the objects on that layer. And also I noticed when recording the attached video that Illustrator doesn't deselect an already selected layer. I just launched Chrome for this, so it couldn't be an issue with the browser.

Video is unlisted on youtube: https://youtu.be/Wq2aeHxIdOI
