Add a precise number of anchor points to a shape

Hello,

I need to set up a CNC wire cutter using Illustrator files in order to model a model airplane wing. Each wing is provided as a combination of a starting and ending section template, properly aligned.

Now, the machine only accepts shapes with the exact same amount of anchor points, up to 50 per shape.

I tried several times using Simplify/Add anchor points to come to a similar amount but I always end up with 10 or 20 points extra in one of the two shapes.

Do you know any possible solution?

Hi there,

I can imagine that your CNC machine need additional anchor points, but it looks strainghe anyway.

To know how many points they are on your curves your can use the command menu > object > path > Symplify and activate the preview so he will count the anchor points for you.

If you want to add anchor points, you go to menu  > object > path > add anchor points.

He will always plays an anchor point betwee two existing ones, so be aware of that.

Another maybe clever way to do it is to divide it with a script:

    Are you sure it's set up correctly?

    This sounds ridiculous.

      Actually the machine driver only accepts vector files with the same amount of anchor points, looks strange but it gives out an error if the condition is not met.

      I believe the best way may be to simply use the Add Anchor Point Tool to add Anchor Points in suitable positions as needed, so the Anchor Points on the two objects/paths/shapes match as nicely as possible with the same total number on each.
