Adobe Illustrator: Some CC Library linked assets cannot be found.

Trying to work on a logo for a friend. She gave me the AI file from the original graphic artist and I get a "Adobe Illustrator: Some CC Library linked assets cannot be found. Click Replace to relink assets using the Links panel." warning when I try to open it. I assumed the artist linked it instead of embedded it, so she sent me another AI file stating she embedded it, but I get the same error. However, if I open the AI in Inkscape, no warnings and the vector is there...any ideas?

Place and embed it. Then you have the parts as editable objects.

Copy just the parts you're missing.

Open the AI file in order to edit everything else.

Thanks, you are awesome! Clicking embed after the place worked...this is still dumb though!

Inkscape does not open the AI file, but the embedded PDF. The PDF always has the links embedded.

You could create a new file in Illustrator and place the AI file in it. Then you also open the PDF in Illustrator. This will give you the linked files. You can then copy those contents from That file, open the AI file and paste the copied links.

That way you get the best of both worlds.

But I need to edit the original vector. Placing it in a new AI file makes it a linked file.
