Hello all, I am trying to open a Acad .dwg or .dxf in Ai. The trick or issue is that I'm trying to retain all the layers I created in Autocad and use the Ai template supplied by another company. The template is basic but needed to keep the standards required. If I PLACE dwg in illustrator in a NEW document, I have no problem retaining the layers from dwg. When I use the new template I have issues. That process is: Create new doc from template / Place .dwg file and then my layers get flipped up. Any suggestions? Also is there a way to open a new Ai doc and Place Dwg file within. Then somehow bring my template in after placing dwg... or will I need to create a script of some sort?
