Batch renaming layers in Illustrator

Hey,

Is there a way you can select a few layers in illustrator and then (hypothetically) right click, select 'rename layer(s)' and assign the a name to all the selected layers in one fell swoop?

e.g. I have 40 layers I want to rename 'project' but don't want to do this manually.

I've found no solution to this and feel like it could be solved natively, but accept it probably requires a script or extension. Any ideas?
