Brush library compatibility

I have a brush library created in illustrator CC that I am trying to get to work in older versions of illustrator. But I can't seem to open it in either CS3 or CS6. Is there a way to save brush libraries to ensure compatibility with older versions of illustrator?

    Just do

    File > Save as.

Then select a location and type a file name and OK

Then select the version in the following dialog box.

You need to first make sure the brushes are compatible. That means:

no automatic corners in pattern brushes

no "beautiful corners" and/or scaling between guides in art brushes

    no raster images

Then try and save the file that contains the brushes as an Illustrator CS3 file

Then in CS3 go to Library > Other library and open your AI CS3 file.

Thanks for your quick reply. I do not think that my brushes contain any of those. But I cannot choose to save it as an illustrator CS3 file. My only option is "Brush files (*.ai)"
