Can I open a cgm file in illustrator?

I have created a cgm file as an output from a sesimic interpretaion package. Iused to be able yo open these in illustrator, but when I try now (using Illustrator 2020) I just get a box that represents the extent of the file, but no content. Any ideas?

Thanks for reaching out. CGM(Computer Graphics Metafile) files are supported within Adobe Illustrator. Please check out this help article for more information about supported file formats.
Do you have issues with this specific file or all CGM files?
