Question

Can somebody convert a .CDR file to Illustrator for me?

I just got a logo from www.brandsoftheworld.com and it's in .CDR (Corel Draw) format. I can't seem to open this. Apparently Illustrator CS6 will open it but I only have CS5.5. Can somebody help me out?

    Whats up everyone!

I know this is an old post but I'll answer anyway

because I already suffered a lot looking for solutions to convert CORELDRAW files.

There are 3 ways to convert CDR files for MAC users and none of them is 100% guaranteed that it will work:

    The first and easiest

Is http://www.filespazz.com/ just upload and get the converted file by email, but from what I get, it's not working with the latest version of CorelDraw Xwhatever.

    The second

A free software called Inkscape open source available for win and mac can open your file and save in other format to PDF or SVG. Go to http://inkscape.org/ download the app and open the damn CDR file. Note: the mac it will ask you to install the X11 library http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/

    And the third

It is an app available in the app store I bought and worked for the files i needed to convert but as I said before, none of these options are 100%.

This is the link to the app on AppStore, its a 9,99usd app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/printlab-studio/id609788218?mt=12

I have no connection with the developers of this app. There is no commercial interest in putting the link here in this forum, the only motivation I have is to help everyone who has trouble converting files by CDR on mac or just do not want to buy Corel just to use as a converter sporadically.

    I hope that helps.

Why did you get CDR? Native format for Illustrator is AI, but it can load various other formats at varying degrees of success. Next best format is PDF only if AI is embedded, then EPS.

Sorry for beating a dead horse since you already have the file, just curious.

Quote from Brands of the World

Various formats available: EPS, PNG, JPG and others on request.

Maybe it was supplied to him by his client, or there is no other format available.

i've used http://www.filespazz.com/ in the past. It converts .CDR files to EPS. 10MB file limit size though.
