Cannot use Adobe Wood Type Ornaments One in Illustrator or Photoshop CC 2017

I can use Adobe Wood Type Ornaments One just fine in InDesign CC 2017, but not at all in Illustrator or Photoshop CC 2017. The font in the character menu in both cases just reverts back to whatever the prior font was, and it throws no error. Font Book (I'm on a Mac) says the font is "safe to use". First time I have come across this problem. Can't find anything on it on the web. I guess I'm the only person who has experienced this problem? I would be extremely grateful for any help that might lead to a solution.

Tosona, Hi.

That was odd so I decided to test my font.

Font Agent Pro - I activated WoodtypeOrnamentsStd.otf

Mac Get Info: Full Name: Adobe Wood Type Ornaments Std

WoodtypeOrnamentsStd.otf

Version: Version 2.020;PS 002.000;hotconv 1.0.51;makeotf.lib2.0.18671

Tested in Illustrator CC 2017 and Photoshop CC 2017

Like you, the font reverts back to whatever the prior font was used.

Here is what DID work.

With nothing selected, In your Character Panel, select WoodtypeOrnamentsStd.

Text Tool, draw out your area text. Open up your Glyph Panel and double click on the character you want.

So it does work. For whatever reason, Adobe Wood Type Ornaments Std wants to be really suborn!

I have never seen that before.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! It worked. It looks like we have found a bug. Glad to have the workaround.

What kind of font is it?

PostScript, TrueType, OpenType?

Thanks for responding! It's an OpenType font. It passes the Mac's FontBook font validation. There is an orange dot next to the file name in the Library > Fonts folder, where it resides. I have no idea what that means. I didn't put it there.

That dot is a color flag that can be assigned via the finder. Maybe someone else did it.

You could try the troubleshoot procedure from here: Troubleshoot fonts in Adobe applications | Mac OS X
