Change the Color of the Basic Graphic-Textures

Pretty straight forward.

I am making an infographic. I want to be able  to show white graphic-texture over an imported image. Yet the basic graphic textures are all black. I am hoping I can make them white to stand out over the dark image.

Below is a sample of what I mean.

Any suggestions?

Fill an object with a texture pattern.

Choose Edit > Edit Colors > recolor Artwork

Make sure that the Black can be changed (click the line next to the black swatch to make it into an arrow)

Change the black into another color and click OK

You will see a new Pattern Swatch.
