Closing Curvature Tool Path in Illustrator 2020 on macOS Catalina?

I’m running Illustrator 2020 on a Mac with Catalina.  I’d like to draw a closed path with the Curvature Tool.  When I bring the cursor back to the starting point, the little circle appears as expected but when I click on the starting point, the curve doesn’t close. If I hover over the anchor point, the cursor changes to a crosshair shape briefly but the Curvature Tool just wants to continue with the curve.

I’ve tried adjusting the selection tolerance and rubber-banding options, but nothing allows me to close the loop as simply as the tutorials portray.  Does anyone have an ideas how I can get the Curvature Tool to perform correctly again?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. This is unusual after that small circle appears if we click on the starting point which means we are closing the path. Will it be possible for you to share a small video of what exactly happening at your end.

Is this a bug? I notice this happens when hovering over the last point I want to click to close the path, if I wait too long or go a hair beyond the point, the pointer changes to a crosshair, and then the tool keeps continuing to draw (even if I try to move the pointer to the last point path where the crosshair changes back to the circle). Instead of allowing me to close the path when clicking, it keeps on drawing as if I didn't close the path.
