Conditional action

Is there any way to do a variable action that recognizes the documents art board dimensions and then start a action that corresponds to the predefined dimension. I know that photoshop has this option but can’t find anything in illustrator. Any help much appreciated.

Which version of Illustrator are you using?

Also, please describe in detail what your action is going to do. Illustrator actions often have to rely on bumpy workarounds (compared to Photoshop actions).

Newest version of illustrator cc

action steps are as follows

if artboard dimensions are x and y then cut and paste artwork to new file

then rotate 180*

add 5 mm eye mark to corner

Or rotate 90*

add 5mm eyemark to corner

otherwise do not rotate

The first step (specific artboard dimensions) is the crucial part. It cannot be determined with an action.

Therefore, I'm afraid that you are out of luck. You could try to develop a solution based on scripting which is a lot more powerful than Illustrator actions.

There is an Illustrator scripting forum on this platform. You may go over there.
