Converting Illustrator Vector to Transparent TIFF

I am composing a manuscript in InDesign. For this manuscript, I need to make some .ai vector designs in the interior of the book into solid images instead of vectors. That is, changing the .ai vectors to TIFF files.

The .ai vectors in the InDesign file are transparent, and I would want the TIFF files to also be transparent (i.e., without a white background) because I am printing the book on natural colour paper. In hopes of trying to convert the .ai designs to transparent TIFFs, I have read through an article at: https://howchoo.com/g/yzvlotm0nmm/background-transparent-illustrator

However, when I follow the above advice (i.e., open the .ai files in Illustrator, select View>Show Transparency Grid, and proceed to export as a TIFF file), the resulting TIFF does not have a transparent background. I confirmed this by placing the exported TIFF into my manuscript's InDesign file and changing the paper color to a bright yellow; the yellow does not appear behind the TIFF.

How may I export a transparent TIFF from Illustrator?

Hi.

How do you mean with: " I need to make some .ai vector designs in the interior of the book into solid images instead of vectors."

Is not necessary to save your AI files in TIFF format.

Please check the following video: No Tiff Require

Can you explain if you need to obtain some effects in your images?

I am using a printing company to print the manuscript. There are some issues with other images contained in the book when printed - it is rather complicated to explain the whole story. Suffice to say that the printing company suggested that I could possibly resolve it by changing the image to a TIFF.

Do you know how to convert an .ai into a transparent TIFF in Illustrator?

Thank you for taking some time to help.

I tried the method in your video, but the transparent TIFF still is rather bad quality in the end (in terms of color vibrance and resolution) compared to the original .ai. See:

Yes, I am aware I can import the .ai file into InDesign. But this is the very source of the problem; the exported PDF is too large with the .ai file, so I need to somehow make a TIFF file that is transparent.

Your file is OK. Don´t worry. But if you look at it at 800%, of course, you will see the bitmap detail.

Your reference must always be 100%.

Due to the nature of your file, I highly recommend you to use the Merge Visible command under the layer panel.

And send a sample to your print shop for them to check your file.
