Custom keyboard shortcuts disappeared after Illustrator 2020 update

My custom .kys shortcuts transferred through in Photoshop and InDesign, but NOT illustrator.

I can locate my .kys file under Users > [username] > Adobe Illustrator CC 2019 > Presets > en_US > Keyboard Shortcuts,

BUT...

.... > Adobe Illustrator 2020 doesn't even have a Keyboard Shortcuts folder. How can I re-install??

Hi there,

So sorry to hear about your difficulties. I would like to know if the steps shared by Monika helped resolving the issue. If not, please share a few more details like:

  • Operating system you are working on?
  • Did you check the "Import previous settings and preferences" while updating Illustrator?

Regards,

Srishti,

I followed Monika's suggestion but no Keyboard Shortcuts folder was created. Oddly enough, I *was* able to create a new keyboard shortcut set but cannot actually find it anywhere in my files. If I could locate it, I believe I could move my old .KYS file over and it would be able to source it. Can you assist?

Info:

  • Yes, imported previous settings when updating.
  • Using Catalina 10.15.2.
  • Using AI 24.0.3

List of settings locations: http://vektorgarten.de/illustrator-settings.html

You could at least try if moving over works. It might or might not, because the olf kys file might lack some menu entries and this just might not work out with the new version.

I would first try and just save some dummy shortcut set. If the folder is created then you can try if you can migrate your old set. That might or might not work.
