Deboss and image

I have looked online for advice on how to deboss a text.  I have tried to apply the same thinking to debossing an image and am failing terribly.  Does anyone have suggestions of a tutorial for debossing an image?

    All graphics elements should be vector. To convert the raster Image into vector Image(graphic) use the image trace option in Illustrator & than expand the trace. Than you can Apply the same effects you apply for text in Illustrator to get the Deboss effect.
