Duplicate and Move layer with locked objects

Hi

I have a layer with complex multi layer objects, some parts of which are locked or hidden.

I need to duplicate the this layer and move to a new position on the artboard. And then do this multiple times

Layer>Duplicate works OK.

But then I dont seem to be able to move that new layer around as a whole - without drilling down and unlocking stuff

Have I missed a trick in duplicating and moving?

Or in my workflow?

In case only some of the objects are locked, you can try and:

- in the locked layer click in the selection column (to the far right of the panel) to select all the object. This selects all (although it should not in my understanding, might be a bug)

- then on the artboard you can grab one of the item that is not locked and move it with the selection tool.

- The locked objects will follow.

thanks for your reply

I should have specified this is CC2017 in case that makes any difference.

But unfortunately clicking the selection column doesnt select the locked sub layers. Maybe the bug got squashed?

At the moment I am just drilling down and unlocking unhiding and its a bit of a pain

It doesn't work when sub layers or groups are locked.
