Edit Toolbar problems - Can I lock it?

Community Beginner ,

This new "edit toolbar" option is so epically stupid and annoying. Why would they change this?!

So my problem is, once I finally get the tools where I want them, I'll drag something by accident and they get all messed up again.

We all work so quickly, that it's inevitable that those tools are going to get mistakenly moved all over the place and slow down our pace trying to find a tool that got hidden somewhere.

So my question is, is there a way to lock that toolbar down so I can't accidentally move tools as I'm working?

Thanks!

Tom

Hi, in the following thread i found this answer.

How to lock right toolbar panel icons?

Although you permanently can't nail down the Panel setup you can save the arrangement and, with a few clicks, reset to your layout any time things become disarrayed.

First set up your personal Panel arrangement. Then, go to Window > Workspace > New Workspace. Give it a name (let's call it Mystuff) and save it.

The next time your panels are dragged out of proper placement, just go to Window > Workspace > and choose Reset Mystuff. Everything will pop back into position.

Good luck.

This is NOT the answer to the question posed.

I am having the same problem.  The opening post is asking about the left toolbar (selection tools, pen, brushes, shape tool, etc.), NOT the right toolbars (character, swatches, layers, artboards etc).

The new editable left toolbar, where you can rearrange, remove, and/or add tools is an interesting idea but it absolutely needs a LOCK function. You make one little mis-click and all of a sudden you don't have your selection tools stacked, or direct selection gets nested under a different tool.

It's a total nightmare. I have to reset my toolbar 4x an hour on average when doing fast-paced work.
