You should not have to click on the font "button" at all for the fonts to appear. As shown in the screen shot below just running the cursor over the Font entry in the contextual menu highlights that word and brings up the font list. However, when I went to set this up I found that initially it took almost thirty seconds for the fonts to actually appear the first time. After that the fonts popped up instantly whenever I ran the cursor on the Font entry.

Is this a new problem for you? Have you ever been able to see the fonts? Have you recently upgraded either your version of Illustrator or your operating system? Are you using a Font Management utility like Suitcase or FontExplorer? Please provide the exact version of Illustrator and the OS that you are using as well as any other relevant details.

Yes I meant to be drag mouse cursor over the font entry.  Now I have tried and waited for more than 2 minutes but they didn't appeared on the side.

Yes this is first time I'm facing this problem. Yes I have upgraded my operation system and work machine. Now it's window 11. And the Illustrator version is CC 2015.

In my previous work machine it was working quit fine. But now they are same fonts but not working. (One thing, They are appearing when I open fonts from Character box or from the top). Looking forward to your help. Thank you so much in advance!

I would think that the problem could possibly stem from the fact that you are trying to use a six year old version of Illustrator with a brand new operating system. Try updating to CC 2021 and see if the problem remains.

Hi there,

Sorry about this trouble. As mentioned by @Bill Silbert font list take some time to load. It varies from computer to computer and no. of fonts installed on the system. I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest Illustrator and Creative Cloud. Also, you may try the steps shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/fonts/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-illustrator-indesign.html). If this doesn't help, try resetting Illustrator preferences and let us know how it goes.

Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

If you don't need the font previews in your lists, you can speed things up substantially by turning that off in your Preferences > Type.
