Question

Freeform gradient won't convert to grayscale

I used the freeform gradient tool to create a metallic gold effect on a client logo. Now I would like to convert this to grayscale, and prefer not to spend much time on the endeavor. When I select the logo and convert it to grayscale, (Edit > Edit Colors... > Convert to Grayscale), the parts of the logo where I used the freeform gradient do not change. The solid colors, linear, and radial gradients in the logo all convert. Has anyone gotten this to work? Does anyone have suggestions on other ways to quickly convert to grayscale?

Thanks!

If you were naughty and did not create global color swatches,  you will need to reassign those as global colors first.

If you were good and proper using global swatches (the bent corner on the bottom right of swatch denotes this). this can be easily done in 2 steps

1) selecting the swatches

2) Swatch options, and change to grayscale

You can change the swatch to global here also, but I believe you will manually need to reassign those live gradient points or lines. Please post a sample gradient .ai file via dropbox or google drive, and  can best help you further.

You can try Effect > Rasterize and set it to Grayscale at the resolution you would like to end it up.

You can also reoprt the problem here:
