I'm am looking to arch text but I want to keep the letters vertical.
I understand going to Effect > Warp > Arch.....But I don't want the letters to be skewed. Please help
Arc with a bit of vertical distortion will get your close. Since the bend number is smaller, the distortion number is smaller, too.

Try Effect > Warp > Arch Lower (or Arch Upper - depending on if you want the top or the bottom to be lined up).

Oh, and you can adjust the amount of bend if the curve is too much or too little.

A small adjustment to the vertical distortion should bring your text back in line. (in this case, 5% did it)

Instead of the Warp effect you can use Type on a (circular) path (see Type on a Path tool) and take the Stair Step setting in the Type on a Path Options dialog.

I appreciate all of your feedback very much.
Here is an image of the look I am trying to achieve. I was my type to be arched like the word "Jeffersontown"
Arch, Arch Lower and Arch Upper all distort the vertical orientation of the letters.
Any other ideas?

It is very likely that your example is made by using Type on a Path with the Skew setting applied. Try it.
