Help with creating an envelope liner from original artwork

Hello- New to Illustrator.  Trying to use my mother's artwork to make custom envelope liners for wedding invites.  I have the scan of the artwork, and the liner template from the stationary company.  I am trying to be able to position the artwork within the template and crop it accordinly.  Any suggestions?

Can you please show some sketches or screenshots that may explain what you are going to do?

Also, which version of Illustrator are you using?
