How do I combine two vector files (shape and texture)?

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to perform the following action:

I have two files: A transparent vector circle split into 12 equal (editable) parts and a vector watercolor texture circle. What I'd like to do is combine the two so that the watercolor texture is added to the vector circle with 12 parts - so that when I change the color of each of the 12 parts of this circle, it'll be the underlying watercolor texture that changes color. I really hope that this makes sense!

I'll really, really appreciate any help! High-fives and gratitude from an Illustrator rookie

It is necessary to combine twelve separate pieces to act like one piece.

Choose 12 different objects and give the "Path / Compound Path" command.

You can fill the watercolor into this area.

If you have a watercolor texture you can also mask this new objen.

Place the object you have superimposed on the watercolor texture and select both and apply the "Cliping Mask" command.

Are you able to post a screenshot of what you are talking about to give us a better understanding?

Sure! My bad
Below you'll find an example/illustration of what I'm trying to do: Here, I've placed a watercolor circle vector underneath my "sliced-up" circle file with editable areas. What I wish to do is to merge/combine the two so that when I change the color of one of the slices, it's the watercolor texture in that area that changes color:
