How to draw a hose / pipe and automatically put a fitting drawing at each end of the hose or pipe?

I understand you can use one of the brushes and repeat a pattern from a picture, but what if you draw a vector rectangle and want to repeat that pattern on a brush? 

Either way, by using a brush or using a graphic style. I want to repeat a pattern to draw a hose or a pipe, AND at each side of the hose or pipe I want to automatically end it with a drawing of a fitting.

What is the best way I can do this from a vector drawing generated in Illustrator?
