How to move an object on top of a layer

Hello,

I am having a lot of trouble moving an object onto a layer. See in the below picture that the green 19 is stuck behind the gold layer on top of it.

Do you know what I have to do to move it on top of it?

Thanks in advance.

If the gold map and the green 19 are on the same layer, select the green 19 and use Object > Arrange > Bring to Front.

Otherwise, open Window > Layers, and drag the green 19 sublayer up above the map in the Layers panel.

As you have already discovered, layers can be confusing until you understand how they work. This document should be helpful:

Move an object to a different layer

  1. Window > Layers (F7),
  2. Create a New Layer
  3. Select the object. (number 19)
  4. Do one of the following:
  5. Click the name of the desired layer in the Layers panel. Then choose Object > Arrange > Send To Current Layer.
Drag the selected-art indicator , located at the right of the layer in the Layers panel, to the layer you want.

Tom,

It may be enough to just select the 19 (just Click it with the Selection Tool), then Ctrl/Cmd+X+F; that is if it is in the same Layer as the golden map object(s).

For my part you are welcome, Tom.

As you have probably established, Illy can (usually) help you in different ways.
