How To: outline realistic object.

Hey guys I love this design I found online.

I know how to do use blend modes and overlay the type etc.

The main thing I cant figure out is how they vectorized the steak?

Do you think it was done by hand with the brush tool or do you think it was brought into photoshp and doctored then image traced in illustrator?

If you could help me out that would be appreciated.

Hard to be for sure without examining a copy of the file and looking in outline view. This could have been live traced, or drawn from scratch.

Looking at the style of the art, I feel pretty certain that it was drawn, not live-traced.

I feel a digitizing tablet by a right handed person was involved by the ending curvature of the strokes, as seen on the side profile of the onion. But there is possibility of being live traced from Photoshop, especially with the triangular shapes on the top right of the screenshot.
