How to slant a font.

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to slant a font item. I'm trying to create custom markings for a model aircraft and need to figure out how to slant the numbers shown here on the nose where they lean slightly towards the aft of the plane. I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm still learning.

From the Menu Bar, choose Object… Transform... Shear or right-click and choose Transform > Shear. That Should do the trick.

In the Transform panel it is called "Shear" (the bottom right field). Adjusting the registration point (origin of the shear) to one of the nine possibilities in the Proxy area will affect the resulting shear.

Or choose the Shear tool from the Tools panel (in the same tool slot with the Scale Tool). The Shear tool gives you the most control as it gives you infinite possibilities for adjusting the registration point (origin of the shear).

The newly redesigned Free Transform tool seems to work much better for me if I convert the text to vector objects first. Select your text with the Selection (Black Arrow) tool and choose Type… Create Outlines from the Menu Bar.

This was fantastic.  Thank you so much.  As someone just cutting their teeth on illustrator, I can't thank you guys enough.  I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions along the way, so thank you in advance.

Use the free transform tool or the transform panel.

Hello,

you could have a look there How to skew / shear text in Illustrator? - Graphic Design Stack Exchange  and/or

How to Skew Fonts in Illustrator | eHow where the procedure is accurately described.

If you want only to use these fonts, please have a look there: http://www.schriftarten-fonts.de/fonts/190/slant.html. It's a German website, ok, but I'm sure the download is no problem for you.
