How to use Zoom tool in Illustrator 2020

Hi all.

When I click on the zoom tool on the toolbar and move the mouse over the canvas, a + is displayed inside a magnifying glass as the mouse pointer. How can I zoom out? I want to use the mosue to zoom in and out by clicking. I don't want to use the keyboard (CTR) because I've mapped the CTR button for my screen recording software. Where is the options menu so I can click to zoom out?
