My Illustrator CC 2018 now crashes when I try and open it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have tried going back to CC 2017. Nothing has seemed to help.

This all began when I downloaded the 2018 update a few days ago. But I can't even use the previous years version without it crashing as well.

help.

Here is the error report.

It was same for me.. after latest Apple Sierra update.

first I reinstalled illlustrator from Creative cloud dropdown with "keeping preferences" - it didn't worked.. but then I reinstalled with "removing preferences" - and everything is ok.

If AI 2018 crashes on file open unchecking GPU in performance options does the job.

Please don't post Crash Reports in here. Makes threads really hard to read.

Have you rebuilt the preferences?

When uninstalling/reinstalling did you run the Cleaner tool in-between?

Please tell us a little bit more about your system, the hardware, devices, plugins ...

Hey Monika.

Sorry about that.

So I'm unable to delete the prefs without admin support (their username/password) because of that I haven't been able to toss the prefs file or any possible issues with Plug-ins.

this is a Mid 2011 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac (with a whopping 8 GB of RAM) No other external devices, just keyboard and mouse. No Wacom tablets or anything..

My other CC 2018 apps work great - InDesign and Photoshop. Which makes me think that it's a Plug-in. But I can't delete from the Plug in's folder without the Admin username/password.

I have not run a cleaner tool. Can you suggest one?

The limited user account might be an issue as well.

Can you set up a user account with Admin privileges and see if that works?
