Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit

Illustrator CC 64 bit

Within Illustrator select text tool.

Type in a few lines of text with carriage return.

Select all the text in the paragraph

Go to paragrpah panel

Select the justify icon

NO results...the paragrpah is not justified

    Correct answer Steve Fairbairn

Draw a text box by click-dragging with the text tool. Then start typing.

You can’t expect type to justify if you use a carriage return at the end of each line.

The way you are doing things, each line is a paragraph.

Are you using area text? If not you should.

You should not need to use carriage returns except at the ends of paragraphs.

All I'm trying to do is type a paragraph and then justify it.

i would expect this to work with the normal type tool. It does not.

Your suggestion of using the area text does not work because I get an error message "You must click on a non-compound, non-masking path to create text inside a path"

    Select Area Type Tool

O.k., pleased to be of assistance.

This worked, but then how do you reduce the size of the box?
