Illustrator changes object size

New Here ,
Oct 10, 2018 Oct 10, 2018

Hi,

So sometimes I create an object in illustrator and it's size 5 x 9 (example)

I open it up on a new computer and the dimensions slightly change to something like 4.82 x 9.82 (example)

So any idea s to what could be the cause for this.

Yes check out the following:

Go to the preferences: (command/control K)

See if the use bounding box is enabled or disabled...

This will change the size of the object.

See the attached same size of shapes.

Different size. You might have is checked or unchecked id different computers...

artinwar,

Maybe your General Preferences are different, maybe with Use Preview Bounds ticked on one and unticked on the other.

chanaart,

As far as I can see, although very small the enhanced bit to the right in the Screenshot in your post #2 says something different than Use Bounding Box, the last word being longer than Box. Are you sure it is not saying Use Preview Bounds, as already suggested in my first post?

Here is the latest thread where the term has been up, in post #3 by Ton.

Re: Object > Artboard > Fit to selected art. Artboard is wrong size

And here are a few screenshots showing readable Preferences screenshots, the former with the term enhanced and the latter with the term shown in the OP,
