illustrator cs6 artistic brush unavailable for new brush

First thingsFirst;

i'm using CS6 Extended local install.

Running on a Windows 7 machine, I7 3.4 Processor, and 16 Gb RAM

I know this is probably a simple fix but I haven't been able to find the solution.

I'm trying to make a new custom brush in illustrator cs6 but the only new brush options that are not grayed out are Calligraphic. Bristle, & Pattern.

Calligraphic is already selected and cant be unselected.

All the other options are grayed out.

How do I get a new Art Brush

You need to create the artwork first.

Then select it and drag it into the brushes panel.
