Illustrator touch workspace - Copy and paste into new document

I am working in Illustrator 2017's touch workspace to get a better feel for it. I can't figure out how to do one simple thing - copy (or cut) an object from one document and paste into another from within the touch workspace. I can cut it using the context menu, but I cant paste it into another document - the only option that I'm aware of for pasting is paste in place, which is greyed out.

Also, is there the option to copy? I don't always want to remove the object from the document. So far my workaround has been paste in place and then cut the duplicate.

The square tool with the dots along the sides (transform tool) is what you want to copy live in the drawing. There is a duplicate box to check. Then any settings you change with apply to the copy you create when you hit "apply'!  Took me a while to figure out too.  Unfortunately, to do a clipboard copy / paste, I have to leave the touch environment and go back to essentials.
