Importing Greek text from Word

Hi all, I need to transfer a paragraph of greek text into illustrator from Ms word. The font used in word is arial and I've the same font in illustrator. But when I try and copy and paste all I get is a line of dots. Can someone tell me how to do this please as really need this. I'm using illustrator cc. Many thanks, James
